                                        2001.9.16 <VOL.31> Days 144--154

*We are in Ottawa

There is not much to write this time. For the last five months, we have sent out these missives, letting friends and family know how we are doing and where we are going, but after the tragic events last Tuesday, there is little I can say.

We were very lucky to be in Canada and resting in Ottawa at my parents' house when the news first broke. After 5 months driving all over America, we felt like it was home to us, and we were shocked at what we saw. In the last update, we mentioned how much we enjoyed New York, and now we watched along with everyone else as the city suffered and the country mourned. We wondered what would happen to suddenly trivial games. Major League Baseball eventually decided to postpone one week's worth of games, which will be played at the end of the season. They will resume action on Monday, and so will our road trip, as we drive to Toronto as planned.

Our schedule hasn't been impacted by this tragedy, but certainly the complexion of our trip has. We have to finish the trip, mainly because we have to get the car back to Vancouver by October 12, but it will not be with the same enthusiasm that we once had. We will still update the website with information about  Toronto, Cleveland, Detroit, and the Hall of Fame, and we also plan to continue with these occasional e-mails. We think it is better to continue as before, moving toward the future, but thinking about the past.

We hope that all of our readers are safe and sound.

Take care,

Sean and Aya
