DRIVE 20 - Clinton to Beloit via Field of Dreams

Definitely seen a lot of farmland in the last three days, and today was no different. But in the middle of the farmland is one of the most famous baseball fields in the world - the Field of Dreams movie site. To get there, we took US67 north out of Clinton, which soon joined scenic US52, following the Mississippi for a few miles. Stay on US52 through Dubuque, until Luxembourg, where SR136 south takes you into Dyersville. A left turn off 136 will take you to the farm where Field of Dreams was filmed. The field lies on the property of two farmers - one owns the infield, right field, and some of center field; the other owns left field and the remainder of center. It is the former who also owns the house that appeared in the movie, and he has done a good job of keeping the field open for tourism without disrupting his life. It is free, and you can walk anywhere on the field. When we were there, some other people had a bat, so we took some batting practice. It is definitely worth the trip; the only thing I would say is to go later in the summer when the corn has grown.

Once we left the field, we took US20 east again through Dubuque and into Wisconsin where we turned onto SR11 east which became SR81 into Beloit.
