THE DIAMOND

The Diamond is located just off I-95 on the Boulevard. It is a large stadium for Triple A, with two levels of seating. The lower level has 10 rows of metal box seats for $9, which is typical for this level, but the upper level is where the main difference can be found, as there are over 30 rows of seats. The lower rows are reserved and known as the Press Box Level ($7), while the top 20 or so rows are general admission and cost $6. There is a nice view from these seats, and a lot of foul ball opportunities as well. We recommend that you buy the GA seats and then sit where you like, as the staff is very friendly and allows you to sit anywhere.

The concession food is typical, both in choice and price, with the only notable exception being Kidscession, which has popcorn, cookies, and ice cream at reduced prices. There is also a restaurant along the first base concourse called Famous Dave's Barbeque Pit, which might serve as a suitable pre-game meal spot. There are two picnic areas: a smaller one on the concourse behind third base, and a picnic pavilion in the right field corner, used for groups.

The one element of this stadium I appreciated was the numerous leader boards posted on the concourse behind home plate. They had the International League standings, Richmond team leaders, IL leaders, and even strikeout leaders from MLB.
Overall, however, this stadium is unremarkable in almost every way. There is nothing wrong with it, but nothing truly memorable - just a big ballpark with few fans (at least when I went). Is it worth visiting? Ultimately, the friendly staff makes it worth a trip, but bring your own food and sit in the upper deck, enjoying the view.
