OTTAWA - GAME RECAP
An absolutely beautiful May afternoon greeted the Toledo Mudhens and Ottawa Lynx as they closed out a 4 game set. Ottawa had won the first 3 and had Rigo Beltran on the hill looking for the sweep, while Tyler Walker tried to get his Mudhens back in the win column.
Things looked good for Toledo early as Ernie Young singled in a run in the first inning, but Ottawa replied in the third with 4 singles and a walk to score 3. A walk and two more singles in the 4th inning made it 4-1 Lynx.
Beltran was replaced in the 6th by Mike Mohler, who pitched well for 1 inning, but got into trouble in the 7th. A.J. Hinch and Cody Ross both singled to lead off the inning, and another single by Tom Evans loaded the bases. Mohler then unleashed a wild pitch allowing Hinch to score and cut the lead to 4-2. Darwin Cubillan was brought in and he shut the door, getting Jhonny Perez to ground out to end the threat.

In the 8th, the Mudhens collapsed. Brian Roberts led off for the Lynx and hit a deep fly ball to center. Hiram Bocachica battled the sun and lost, dropping the ball for an error. Roberts stole third as Eddy Garabito struck out, and Luis Matos was intentionally walked. Jack Cust then grounded out to score Roberts. With two out, Corey Brittan was brought in, and that was a mistake. First, he intentionally walked Carlos Mendez and then walked Darnell McDonald to load the bases. Robert Machado then crushed a 1-1 pitch to left-center - a grand slam and the Lynx were up 9-2. Mike Garcia pitched a 1-2-3 ninth and the Lynx completed the 4-game sweep.
What was incredible about this game was that there were 23 hits - 22 singles and 1 grand slam. Not an exciting game, but good to see Ottawa continue to move up in the standings.
