DESCRIPTION BALLPARK GAME RECAP

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA

What can we say about Las Vegas that hasn't already been said. How about Las Vegas is not a baseball town. When people travel to Vegas from all over the world, checking out a game at Cashman Field is not on their list of things to do. If you are not sure what goes on in Las Vegas, then you should get out more. Gambling, shows, restaurants, Vegas has it all.

One interesting fact about Las Vegas is that it's name means "The Meadows" - certainly ironic given the incredibly hot and dry conditions that occur year round in the valley. But what is not known is that beneath the parched surface, there lay a network of waterways that provided sustenance for whoever was living there - it was these "Artesian Springs" that led to Las Vegas getting its name.

This is New York, New York in Las Vegas

We will tell you how to get to Las Vegas using a car. From Los Angeles, take I-15 and get off when the sign says Las Vegas. If you are coming from Northern California, we recommend that you take a day and travel through Death Valley on Highway 136 and 190 before traveling southeast on US 95 into Vegas. If you are coming from the southeast, take US93/95 via Boulder City and Hoover Dam.

Other than that, we are not going to describe the city in detail on this page, other than to say it is a must see as one of America's cultural highlights. You can enjoy yourself walking along the Strip, looking at the casinos, and occasionally trying your luck at one of the tables or slot machines. If gambling is not your forte, then you should simply enjoy the people watching - Vegas is filled with interesting characters and it is always fun to talk to them.

Of course, we didn't do that, as we traveled to Las Vegas to see a baseball game. Click on the links above to see our description of Cashman Field and the game that we saw between Calgary and Las Vegas.
