INDIANAPOLIS - GAME RECAP

A battle between the cellar dwellers in the IL's West Division featured Columbus' Danny Borrell (Yankees #9 prospect according to Baseball America) against Ruben Quevedo of the Indians.

The Indians threatened early when Joe Lawrence singled to lead off the 1st. He was then picked off stealing, but Ryan McGuire's throw hit him in the back of the head (on the helmet) and he was safe at second. But Borrell got the next couple of hitters, and it was scoreless after 1.

In the 2nd, Indianapolis scored when Scott Seabol walked and Keith Luuloa and Bill Hall singled to load the bases. After a strike out, Wilton Veras hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Seabol with the first run of the game.

It remained 1-0 through 7 rather uneventful innings; the highlight being Juan Rivera singling to extend his hitting streak to 19 games.

In the top of the 8th, Drew Henson singled with one out off Jason Childers. Fernando Seguinol pinch hit and drove a 2-0 pitch deep to right field. Suddenly it was 2-1 Clippers. Willie Banks came in to pitch the 8th and allowed 2 walks but enticed Hall to ground out to end the threat.

In the 9th, Marcus Thames hit another 2-run shot to make it 4-1 Clippers and Banks pitched a 1-2-3 9th for his first save of the season as the Clippers won 4-1. Not a great game, but still fun on an absolutely perfect day for baseball.
