COOPER STADIUM

Conveniently located off I-70 on Mound Street, Cooper Stadium has seen a lot of history in its life and is proud to display it throughout the park. With banners honoring the famous players who have come through Columbus, as well as team paintings on a year-by-year basis, fans can appreciate the great teams that have made Cooper their home.

The main entrance to the stadium is away from the street and is where the main ticket office is. The $8 box seats are good and with 10 rows around the stadium, there's plenty of them. The $6 reserved seats are above the concourse and are also about 10 rows, after which the seating is $4 general admission, although there are often specials for ladies or kids in which the GA seats are discounted. Unless you have a need to sit close, choose the GA seats and sit where you want.
One of the attractions of the park is the Captains Club, a restaurant that is located on the club level above the left field line and is perfect for a pre-game meal. The food is better than that served below and with wide windows you can enjoy the game from a different vantage point if you so desire. It also has some memorabilia to look at while you wait. Show up early and get into the Captains Club, the entrance to the elevator is down the left field line.
The staff at the park is also very friendly, they clean your seat before you sit down, and are happy to chat with you. The fans are also good and you can tell that they are used to winning - one fan lamented being 7 games out in May! Parking is $2 and is plentiful, and with the highway so close, is easy to get in and out. The downtown is visible through the trees in centerfield and can be nice during the sunset.
Cooper Stadium is a good Triple A park, and although it lacks all of the bells and whistles of the newer parks, I enjoyed it quite a bit, due to the good representation of past teams and the Captain's Club. If you see a game in Cincinnati, make sure to drive up I-71 and see one in Cooper Stadium too.
