CHARLOTTE - GAME RECAP
Louisville was the best hitting team when this game began, but you wouldn't have known it the way Charlotte Knights starter Brian Cooper shut them down. Although the Bats' got two runners on in each of the first two innings, Cooper got out of each jam, and then retired 12 of the next 14 hitters - the two that reached did so on a walk and an error. While Cooper was shutting down Louisville, his offense was helping out, as Cliff Brumbaugh belted a 2-run home run in the 4th off Bats' starter Seth Etherton for a 2-0 lead.
In the 6th, Scott Morgan added an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0. Cooper continued to pitch in the 7th, but after a single and a walk, he was removed with two outs to a deserved ovation from the home faithful. Reliever Dave Sanders got the final out of the 7th and then struck out 3 hitters in the 8th.
In the top of the ninth, the saves leader in the International League, Edwin Almonte came in and got 3 quick outs for his 5th save as Charlotte won a quick game 3-0.

Jacob Cruz is called out on strikes in
the 8th inning.
