BUFFALO - GAME RECAP
Game time
temperature was 29F but this didn't stop Pawtucket and Buffalo from playing
nearly 4 hours in a freezing drizzle to open the 2003 International League
season. It was 1-0
Buffalo after 3 innings, but Pawtucket tied it at 1 in the 4th with 3 hits off
Bison starter Brian Tallet. They added to this with two more in the 5th on a Lou
Collier dinger to take a 3-1 lead, but the Bisons responded with 7 runs in their
half, highlighted by Luis Garcia driving in a pair of runs with a single. But
the Bison bullpen couldn't hold the lead and Pawtucket tied it at 8 as we
reached the 7th inning stretch. But in the bottom of the 7th, Jody Gerut had a
two-run double for Buffalo to give them a 10-8 lead, which held up.
Jason Boyd (1-0) yielded an unearned run over 2 1/3 innings of relief for the
win, and Dave Elder retired the final four batters of the game for his first
save. Ryan Cameron (0-1) allowed two runs, one hit and three walks in 1 1/3
innings in relief to take the loss.
Bison
starter Brian Tallet warms up (not literally, as it was so cold)
