DESCRIPTION BALLPARK GAME RECAP

CLINTON, IOWA

Clinton is located on the eastern edge of Iowa, right on the Mississippi. It boasts a small population, around 28,000, but seems quite a bit bigger than that. The main thoroughfare going through the town is US30 which enters from the west - a lot of the fast food eateries and hotels are located on that stretch of road, which is really not that attractive.

Once you get into downtown, take US67 north which goes through downtown, including by the ballpark, and eventually up a hill to Eagle Point Park. It is a nice spot to drive around, and has a couple of lookouts over the Mississippi. We would like to have spent some time there, but the mosquitoes were out in numbers, so we stayed in the car.

The Mississippi from Eagle Point Park

The downtown itself is not very large, and doesn't seem to offer much. We did stop at Yen Ching, a Chinese restaurant which actually serves real Chinese food that is very good; but other than that we didn't see a lot. There is the riverboat casino located just behind the ballpark, but we did not check it out as we were there to see a ball game. Overall, we can't recommend Clinton other than for the baseball, but that should be enough to go.
