BAKERSFIELD - GAME RECAP

The Lancaster Jetshawks (A affiliate of Arizona) were in town for the second of a three-game set. Blaze starter Enger Veras was not strong early on, and the Jethawks capitalized with two singles and two doubles to take a 3-0 lead after one inning. The Blaze got one back on a throwing error in the bottom half, and then tied the game at 3 on a two-run homer by Alberto Castillo.

Soler steals third and scores on the wild throw

In the 4th, Luis Terrero led off with a homer and Lancaster regained the lead, but Bakersfield fought back in their half, scoring one run on a Chairon Isenia RBI single and another on a throwing error, the Jethawks' third of the game.

The game of catch-up is played well by Lancaster as well, who score a run in the 6th to tie the game at 5.

In the 7th, Blaze reliever Chris Wright comes in to pitch and Terrero hits a grounder back at him. It deflects to second baseman Soler who flubs the throw. After a stolen base, Wright got two outs and the threat looked dead. But a walk, an RBI double, and another walk left the bases loaded and the 'Hawks up by one. Jamie Sykes decides the contest with a 3-run double and although all 4 runs are unearned, Wright takes the hard-luck loss as his teammates cannot score in the last two innings.

Terrero steals second

The final was 9-5, and although the first six innings were exciting, it was defense that decided the affair. This game gets a 6/10 rating because of the 4 errors by both teams and because the home team went down to defeat.
