HARRISBURG - GAME RECAP

The New Haven Ravens (AA-St. Louis) were in town to take on the Senators, affiliate of the Expos. I looked forward to a Senators win and was rewarded with a great game.

Although the Ravens struck early on a 1st-inning home run by Troy McNaughton, Matt Cepicky of the Senators tied the game in the 2nd with a solo shot of his own. In the third, the Senators grabbed another run on two doubles, but New Haven responded with a run in the 4th and the game went to the 6th inning tied at 2. In the 7th, Raven T.J. Maier tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly to restore the New Haven lead.

The game was still 3-2 for the visitors when Scott Prather came in to pitch the 8th. After two singles, Cepicky came to the plate. He bunted, but the throw went to third and was not in time. The bases were loaded for Tootie Myers, the Expos 1st-round pick in 1997. He slammed a 2-run double to give the Senators the lead. A sacrifice fly added an insurance run, and Jim Serrano pitched a scoreless 9th to earn his 11th save.

Senators win in front of 5,440 people, which is more than the Expos have been drawing lately. Great game in a nice park - this is what minor league ball is all about.
