PEORIA, AZ - GAME RECAP
The game we saw featured the Scottsdale Scorpions against the Peoria Javelinas. Justin Duscherrer started for Peoria but was lifted after one scoreless inning. Expos' prospect Donnie Bridges started for Scottsdale and he was promptly roughed up, giving up a single to lead-off hitter Nathan Haynes (Angels) and then a 2-run homer to Kory DeHaan (Padres).
In the third inning, Scottsdale tied it on a 2-run shot by Angel Berroa (Royals), but Bridges was unable to take advantage of the good luck, yielding 4 runs in the bottom half of the inning on 5 hits and a walk. But the Scorpions had some sting left and they tied the game again by plating 4 runs in the 4th, helped by 3 Peoria errors.
Brandon
Phillips batting
In the 5th, Peoria regained the lead on two singles and a fielder's choice RBI by Craig Kuzmic (Mariners) but Brandon Phillips (Expos) tied it for the third time with a long solo home run in the top of the 6th. In the 7th, Trent Durrington (Angels) gave Peoria their 4th lead of the game with his own solo shot, and finally the Peoria pen was able to hold the lead as Allan Simpson (Mariners) and J.J. Trujillo (Padres) gave up only 1 hit over the last 3 innings.
This was a great baseball game, with lots going on and a lot of soon-to-be stars on display - it gets a 9/10.
