LOS ANGELES - GAME RECAP
July 26th - Los Angeles 3, Colorado 1 - Attendance 32, 750
Terrible defense cost the Rockies today - in the bottom of the first Paul Lo Duca singled and advanced to third on Shawn Green's double. The relay throw was muffed by new Rockie Jose Ortiz and Lo Duca scampered home to make it 1-0 Dodgers. Sheffield singled home Green and after a walk to Eric Karros, Adrian Beltre hit a sharp grounder to short that Juan Uribe misplayed, and Sheffield scored to make it 3-0.
That would be enough as Eric Gagne went over 6 strong innings, giving up one horrible run (if the Dodgers get a shutout, all fans get six free donuts - when Colorado scored in the 7th, the donut was gone in more ways than one!) and 3 relievers, including Jeff Shaw with his 30th save, kept the Rockies down as the Dodgers won 3-1.

July 28th - Los Angeles 10, Colorado 6 - Attendance 34, 808
The first game of a crosstown doubleheader (Baltimore was at Anaheim in the evening) featured a great pitching matchup: All-Stars Chan Ho Park (L.A.) and Mike Hampton (Colorado) were scheduled to do battle and it was obvious that a pitching duel was about to commence.
Obvious to everyone but the batters that is. Hampton was terrible today, giving up 1 run in the first, 5 in the second and 3 more in the third in his shortest outing of the season at 2 1/3 innings. Jeff Reboulet had two doubles and a homer, while Shawn Green had a single, double, and homer in the first three innings as Dodgers scored 10 runs. The Rockies managed 4 unearned runs off of Park, but after 3 it was 10-4 and this game was pretty much over as Park settled down, giving up only 1 earned run over 7 innings. The Dodgers also stopped hitting (after 11 hits in 3 innings, they had 2 in the remaining 5) and the last 6 innings went by in just over an hour as the Dodgers won 10-6. We saw Colorado play 7 times and they went 0-7 in those games - I suspect they are happy that we will not see them again.
