PHOENIX - TRIVIA

Phoenix is really hot.

The name Phoenix comes from the mythical bird that rose from its ashes. Several hundred years ago, Hohokam Indians lived in the area but disappeared for unknown reasons. Shortly after the new town was established in 1864, the name Phoenix was suggested as the residents hoped that a new city would rise where the old one had been centuries before.

Phoenix is the sister city of Himeji, in Hyogo, Japan.

Arizona doesn't practice daylight savings time, so in the winter it is on Mountain Time, but in the summer it is on Pacific Time.
