DESCRIPTION ATTRACTIONS BALLPARK GAME RECAP

SAN JUAN - ATTRACTIONS

There is plenty to do in San Juan, but most people go there to get some sun or to gamble in a casino. I did neither, but did take a drive to the town of Arecibo, about 80 miles west of San Juan. Just south of Arecibo, through many winding roads, is the Arecibo Observatory, home of the largest radio telescope in the world. There is a $4 admission fee, but the visitor center is informative and interesting. As well, the telescope itself (the receiving dish is 20.4 acres large) can be viewed from an observation deck. It is really quite a sight and if you have a few days and want to see something a little different, drive out to Arecibo and check it out.
