DALLAS - ATTRACTIONS

There is not much to see in downtown Dallas. Obviously, the main attraction is Dealey Plaza and the 6th floor museum, but once you have seen those, it is anti-climatic to go anywhere else. Dallas is very spread out and so are the sights. Having said that, please enjoy our short description of three things we saw.

1. Sixth Floor Museum - This museum is located on the 6th floor of what used to be the Texas School Book Depository, the building from which Lee Harvey Oswald allegedly fired the shots that killed JFK. It presents exhibits on the life of JFK, his presidency, and of course, his assassination. There isn't much new information here, but it is eerie to stand beside the window from which the shots were fired.

Dealey Plaza is right below as well, and you can definitely picture how the events transpired. The best thing to do in Dallas.

2. Reunion Tower - Located right next to Union Station, this tower is part of the Hyatt Regency Hotel. It is not that high but the views are pretty good, and it is only $2, so you might as well check it out. You can also see Dealey Plaza very clearly from here.

3. Pioneer Plaza - An amazing sculpture collection that can be found at the corner of Young and Griffin Streets, it shows a cattle drive. - there are three cowboys on horses and about 50 longhorns being herded down a hill. It was created to commemorate Dallas’ beginnings by celebrating the trails that brought settlers to Dallas. There are also native plants, a flowing stream, and a waterfall. It is the largest bronze monument in the world and the largest contiguous open space in downtown Dallas. Very unique and free!
